DeSean Jackson Returns to Practice; Status for Colts Game Uncertain

DeSean JacksonPhiladelphia sports fans, downcast about the favored Phillies losing the National League pennant and the Sixers remaining winless early in the NBA season, had to smile today with the news that Eagles standout receiver/punt returner DeSean Jackson was back at practice, 17 days after suffering a serious concussion on a vicious hit from Atlanta cornerback Dunta Robinson.

"Being away from the games and practice, it's hard to sit around and just watch, so it's good to be back out there and get going," Jackson said.

However, neither Jackson nor coach Andy Reid would say that he'll definitely play when the Eagles entertain Indianapolis on Sunday.

"I'm not just going to run back out there if I'm not healthy enough to go out there and be the same receiver that I'm able to be," said Jackson, who had just torched the Falcons for two touchdowns and was averaging 20.8 yards per catch for the season when he was hurt.

And yet Jackson said that if he is back in the lineup against the Colts, he won't be thinking about his concussion or getting smacked so hard again.

"As a football player, you can't really worry about how hard you get hit or what happens on the field," Jackson said. "It's just a part of the game we play, so (I'll) just go out there and keep doing what I do."
