The
Rams lost a key offensive weapon in the first quarter of Sunday's game at Detroit when wide receiver
Mark Clayton was carted off with a torn patellar tendon in his right knee.
Clayton said after the game that his injury was season-ending, according to Jim Thomas of the
St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Clayton was being defended by Detroit's Alphonso Smith on a deep pattern when he lost his balance and his knee appeared to buckle. Smith was flagged for illegal contact on the play and the pass fell incomplete, but Clayton stayed down. Trainers eventually helped him off the field, then placed his right leg into an air cast.
