Maurice Jones-Drew's regular season officially is over.Jones-Drew, the NFL's leading rusher and the Jacksonville Jaguars' Pro Bowl running back, on Friday was ruled out of the team's regular-season finale against the Houston Texans.
Jones-Drew missed last week's loss to Washington with a knee injury.
The injury has been a season-long issue for Jones-Drew, but he played through the issue for the first 14 games, and is currently second in the NFL in rushing with 1,325 yards.
He also rushed for more than 100-yards in six consecutive games, a streak during which the Jaguars won five games to take a one-game lead in the AFC South.
But Jones-Drew missed two practices the week leading to a crucial game against Indianapolis. With the Jaguars needing a victory to clinch their first AFC South title, Jones-Drew rushed for 46 yards on 15 carries and missed much of the fourth quarter in a 34-24 Colts victory.
