49ers vs. Panthers Preview, Score and More

It could have been a matchup of winless teams until the 49ers broke out and beat the Oakland Raiders for their first win last week.

San Francisco has an edge in talent on offense with RB Frank Gore and tight end Vernon Davis. When you look at the quarterbacks, SF has an edge, too, with Alex Smith over the newly promoted Matt Moore. The Panthers have the NFL's worst offense and Moore, the Week 1 starter, has his old job back in place of rookie Jimmy Clausen.

There is a wild card here. The 49ers have come east and their internal clock says this is a 10 a.m. on a Sunday morning. They almost woke up too late last week against the Raiders. This is a layover for San Francisco before a game next week in London.
