Channing CrowderBALTIMORE -- There were plenty of reasons for the Miami Dolphins to be frustrated Sunday afternoon at M&T Bank Stadium, as they fell apart in the second half of a 26-10 loss to the Ravens. But steam was still rising from linebacker Channing Crowder's head in the locker room as a result of something that happened during a timeout.

Late in the third quarter with Baltimore ahead by 10 points, Crowder walked across the line of scrimmage to call a timeout. It was one play after the Ravens ran a successful fake punt, and after Crowder gave the signal to the referee and started walking to the Miami sideline he stopped and turned back because he heard Ravens fullback Le'Ron McClain say something. The two squared off momentarily in the middle of the field and then something set Crowder off into a rage.

McClain's teammates stepped in front of him and pulled him away and while Crowder's teammates tried to do the same thing he resisted and clearly wanted to get back to McClain. Eventually the skirmish ended harmlessly and no penalties were called, but Crowder shed some light on the situation afterward.

"Le'Ron McClain spit in my face," Crowder said. "That's some real [expletive], so if you talk to him tell him he's a [expletive] and if he ever comes to Miami he's got to see me. They (the refs) said they didn't see it and then they said something about they let Karlos Dansby get away with a facemask the play before. Who the [expletive] cares? I just got spit in my face. I don't give a damn about Karlos pulling somebody's facemask. Like they didn't see Chad Henne get hit twice when he slid. Ol' Stevie Wonder and Helen Keller.
