Jeremy Shockey Taken to Hospital After Injuring Ribs

Jeremy Shockey walked into a waiting ambulance under his own power and was transported to a local hospital after suffering a rib injury during the Saints' Week 9 game at Carolina Sunday. The Saints initially announced that Shockey was questionable to return, then downgraded his status to "out."

Shockey suffered the injury on a first-quarter touchdown grab -- after hauling in a 7-yard pass from Drew Brees, Shockey took a hard shot in the back and appeared to be in considerable pain. The TD was Shockey's third of the season.

The Saints' veteran tight end has not played a full 16-game schedule in his nine seasons in the league, sitting out at least one game every year.
