Aaron RodgersATLANTA -- Sunday's game between the Green Bay Packers and the Atlanta Falcons was billed as a battle of NFC powerhouses, possibly even a preview of the potential NFC Championship Game. But when Matt Bryant nailed a game-winning, 47-yard field goal with nine seconds to play, giving the Falcons a 20-17 victory, Atlanta catapulted into the upper echelon of the NFC, while Green Bay was left with a murky playoff picture.

Atlanta sits at 9-2, a game ahead of both Chicago and New Orleans, who sit at 8-3.

Green Bay, at 7-4, trails Chicago in their division and is currently seeded behind the New York Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have identical 7-4 records, but better results against NFC opponents.

Green Bay had an opportunity to move into a four-way tie atop the conference with a win on Sunday, and put themselves in a situation where they controlled their own destiny for home-field advantage in the playoffs

Now, if the season were to end today, the Packers would miss out on the playoffs.

What a huge difference a day makes.
