The Baltimore Ravens (7-3) gave up a big play in the pass game to the Carolina Panthers (1-9) and there was unexpected joy in Bank of America Stadium as the Panthers, who were heavy underdogs, were within 20-13 in the fourth quarter.Then, the fun ended as the Ravens made their own big plays. Dawan Landry and Ray Lewis returned interceptions for touchdowns and Baltimore rolled in a rout, 37-13.
Once again, the desperate Panthers (1-9) had to rely too much on their defense to keep them in contention. They got a rare big play from their passing game, and 98 yards from running back Mike Goodson, but it was hardly enough.
A few thoughts on the game:
o. Carolina quarterback Brian St. Pierre, who had four practices to prepare for the complex schemes of the Ravens' defense, had completed just 13 of 28 passes late in the fourth quarter. There was some miscommunication, as expected, and there was the pressure from the Baltimore defense.

It did not help St. Pierre that Carolina played without starting guard Travelle Wharton (toe) or starting wide receiver Brandon LaFell (concussion). At one point in the third quarter, St. Pierre was 6 of 15 for a measly 36 yards.
