Maurice Jones-Drew took his first step toward next season Wednesday.Jones-Drew, the Jacksonville Jaguars' two-time Pro Bowl running back, underwent arthroscopic surgery on Wednesday, with Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union reporting that the surgery was successful.
Jaguars' Head Coach Jack Del Rio said this week he expects Jones-Drew to return 100 percent next season.
"Everything that I've heard and learned is that he's going to be able to get the fix that he needs and get him back rolling," Del Rio said this week.
Jones-Drew missed the last two games with a knee injury. He has yet to say whether he plans to play in the Pro Bowl at the end of the month. He was voted to the game a second second consecutive season last week.
If Jones-Drew doesn't play, Tennessee Titans' running back Chris Johnson is the first alternate in the AFC.
Del Rio, speaking at his season-wrapup press conference, said Jones-Drew's season was made more remarkable because he played all season with the knee injury that eventually ended his season.
