Adrian Peterson will play this week for his fantasy owners, but you can keep your wife

Adrian Peterson will play this week for his fantasy owners, but you can keep your wifeAdrian Peterson hasn't played for the Minnesota Vikings since their Nov. 20 game against the Raiders, due to a high ankle sprain. But, despite his ankle only being "85 percent," he's going to tape it up and give it a go on Sunday against the Saints.

Part of the reason for Peterson's willingness to gut it out is you, his beleaguered fantasy owner. Via Mark Craig at StarTribune.com:

"It's very important, especially for my fantasy team owners," Peterson said with a smile. "They've been giving me a hard time."

YES. That's the kind of attitude we're looking for, AD. People drafted you No. 1 overall, in part, for your durability, and also because they knew that there's no way the Vikings would be resting players down the stretch because they had a playoff spot sewn up.

Right now is fantasy playoff time. This is when we need you. Do you hear me, Andre Johnson?

And here's another interesting little tidbit from AD in regard to those who own him in fantasy football:

"They'll say, `Will you please [play]. I'll send my wife down to visit you,'" Peterson said. "Sometimes, it's like, wow. Some of the things I read on there is crazy."

Yikes. I'm going to guess that Adrian Peterson does not see this as a tremendous source of motivation. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's a really sweet gesture, and I'm sure the wives of the 48-year-old fantasy football players of the world are quite lovely, but Peterson probably does pretty well on his own. It's probably best for everyone involved if all these gentlemen just let their wives relax and enjoy this month's Good Housekeeping instead.

But yeah, if he's on your team, go ahead and put him in the lineup. The Saints have only a middle-of-the-road run defense, and Peterson has his priorities straight. Green light him.
