The latest news and best bets in our daily horse racing blog
Today's best bets, by Will Hayler
Chepstow racecourse appears to exist in some kind of Bermuda triangle as far as the weather is concerned.
The going was already heavy before 16mm of rain arrived between the 23rd and Monday as well as further light drizzle this morning, but racing at Chepstow laughs in the face of inclement weather (even that year when they raced when the ground was still pretty much frozen, but it's probably best to gloss over that now).
Hopefully it will be Le Beau Bai (2.10) who thrives most in the testing conditions. You can read more about my views on the Welsh National and the other televised races here.
At Kempton, the echoes of Kauto Star's victory here 24 hours ago are still ringing around the racecourse. In fact, I can still hear Ian Bartlett's commentary right now. Ah yes, they're playing a replay over the public address system.
Maybe they'll have a statue of him placed next to the one of Dessie overlooking the parade ring.
However it's another grey I'm hoping to be celebrating at the track on Tuesday afternoon as Kentford Grey Lady (2.05) moves up to three miles for the first time.
Emma Lavelle's mare impressed when stepping up in trip at Newbury last time and that form has been boosted by subsequent victories for the runner-up and fourth.
The handicapper definitely hasn't gone overboard in allotting her a mark of 122 for her debut in this company and the extra distance ought not to prove a problem.
If Wishfull Thinking (2.40) can be ridden with a little more patience than of late, he is capable of overturning Finian's Rainbow in the Desert Orchid Chase.
