As Vince Wilfork has demonstrated this season, there's nothing better than big, sloppy defenders running with the ball. Only slightly less-entertaining though is big, sloppy defenders getting a chance to run with the ball and then getting rid of said ball like it will give them a communicable disease.
Three Jacksonville Jaguars players -- Matt Roth, Terrence Knighton and Clint Session -- ran with a ball after a sack of Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub dislodged it and none seemed particularly keen to rumble toward the end zone. It was like a Keystone Kops play, if the Keystone Kops were 300 pounds and wearing teal.
The NFL.com play-by-play description was written as such:
(6:41) 8-M.Schaub sacked at HOU 35 for -10 yards (55-C.Session). FUMBLES (55-C.Session), RECOVERED by JAX-90-M.Roth at HOU 30. 90-M.Roth to HOU 25 for 5 yards. Lateral to 96-T.Knighton to HOU 18 for 7 yards. Lateral to 55-C.Session to HOU 8 for 10 yards (23-A.Foster).
That's a generous five yards for Roth. (For all of you who started him as a running back in your fantasy league, be sure to thank the official scorer.)Watching this play live, I thought there was a chance he could go all Earl Campbell and bounce off some smaller guys for a touchdown. Evidently, he thought different.
