1) It wasn't all about that drop goal for Jonny Wilkinson and England. For us, this beast of a hit on Emile Ntamack ? from a fly-half! ? summed up the very best of his talents, as does this series and this last-minute chase with the game in the bag. Then there's his sublime vision against the All Blacks in 2002 and a tidy compilation tribute. Thanks Jonny.
2) As English exports to the USA go, rugby league seems as unlikely as Blur and Oasis. But that's exactly what happened in 1989. Here's Wigan v Warrington, the American Challenge match in Milwaukee (starring the Guardian's very own Shaun Edwards).
3) Football bits and bobs: the most absurd phantom goal you will ever see (one that even Stuart Attwell wouldn't give), a red card for scoring from an uncontested drop ball, El Cl�sico in slow motion, Alan Hansen's most famous quote, John Fashanu falling off a wall, a 12-year-old David Beckham being cute on TV, a forgotten classic from Gazza, Ian St John landing a beautiful right-hander, Greavsie's Spitting Image puppet taking a turn in the chair, The Stath lends his acting 'talent' to the 1997 PC game Soccer Nation advert (plus his audition tape) and Hagi: still got it!
