Patriots, Lions with defensive touchdowns within seconds of other

Within the first five minutes of Week 14's slate, two defenses scored. That is already a rare occurrence, but the Lions and Patriots both came away with touchdowns in the same way. Each team forced a fumble in the end zone and recovered it.

First, Christian Ponder fumbled, and Stephen Tulloch recovered to give the Lions and early lead. Just 50 football seconds later, Rex Grossman fumbled and Vince Wilfork recovered for a New England score.

Earlier this week, Bill Belichick said that he tells his players, "If you were a big enough playmaker, you'd be on offense." Both the Lions and his own team proved him wrong right off the bat on Sunday. The defensive touchdowns turned out to be more than a luxury, as both teams won by single scores.
