The Oakland Raiders were able to find the self-restraint to not start Carson Palmer on Sunday. But when things went bad for Kyle Boller (which generally happens right about the time Kyle Boller is inserted into any football game), they couldn't help themselves. It was Palmer time.
How'd that go? Well, it was exciting for a minute or two. But then things got Boller-y, as you'll see here:
I don't share this video in any kind of an attempt to criticize Carson Palmer. What on earth would anyone have expected from a guy who hasn't played a down since last year, had about three days to learn a playbook and has had no time to develop timing and rapport with any receivers.

The only thing crazier than thinking that Palmer was fit to start on Sunday was thinking that he'd be inserted in the middle of a Kansas City blowout. What was he expected to do there? He's a good quarterback, and long-term, he'll be fine, but you could have put Dan Marino in under those circumstances, with Johnny Unitas riding on his shoulders, and they'd have had a day just as rough as Palmer's.
Here's his final stat line:
8 of 21, 116 yards, zero touchdowns, three interceptions.
And just so he doesn't feel lonely, here's Kyle Boller's:
7 of 14, 61 yards, zero touchdowns, three interceptions.
