If it looked to you like the New Orleans Saints could have beaten the Indianapolis Colts on auto-pilot Sunday night, you may be on to something. After he broke his left tibia and fractured his left MCL in a sideline collision with tight end Jimmy Graham last week, Saints head coach Sean Payton was forced to coach the follow-up game on "Sunday Night Football" from the coaches box at the Louisiana Superdome. Not that he didn't have enough to keep him occupied, especially as the 62-7 rout dragged ever onward:

While offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael called the entire game, according to Payton and quarterback Drew Brees, the head coach was getting his grub on. "Halftime adjustments? Yeah, I've got one ? how about a plate of cheese fries?"
In all fairness to one of the best playcallers in the NFL, we're quite sure that Payton had everything dialed up to a fault during the week with Carmichael and Brees, and as well as Brees runs that offense, it wasn't as if Payton would have had to break away from his seat to put out any fires.
But here's what we want to know: If it's OK for an NFL head coach to eat a dog during a game, why isn't it�kosher (ha!)�for an NFL quarterback to do the same on the sideline?
2009-era Mark Sanchez would like to know.
"I didn't mean it as a form of disrespect," Sanchez said when he was grilled (OK, we'll stop now) about his secret sideline dog during a 38-0 win over the Oakland Raiders in October of 2009. "I wasn't trying to take away from anything the team had going on. People have gotten some laughs out of it and we all kind of joked about it, but it's one of those things that I definitely need to learn from and it was a mistake. It won't happen again."
Even noted junk-foor junkie Rex Ryan was a killjoy about the whole thing. "To me, I'm an old-school football guy and you're playing a great game of football. I know you're hungry, but leave that for the fans,"�Sanchez's coach�said after the game. "You can go to the locker room and you can eat afterward. You know, hey, that's not the biggest mistake he's ever going to make."
In the end, Sanchez turned it into an opportunity for a charitable gesture ? he bought and brought 500 hot dogs and 500 hamburgers, along with buns and rolls, to the Community Soup Kitchen in Morristown, N.J.
We'd love to see Payton do something similar, now that he's been "busted" as well.
