The Philadelphia Eagles are off to the playoffs while the Dallas Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones are in for a possible grilling on a violation of the Rooney Rule.

Philadelphia (10-6) kept a number of starters on the sideline, including quarterback Michael Vick, and still gave the Cowboys all kinds of trouble before Dallas won, 14-13. The Eagles used backups on the offensive line, rested some of their defense and handled the Cowboys for most of the game.

Dallas (6-10) finally pulled it out with 55 seconds to play when quarterback Stephen McGee, who was making his first NFL start, passed four yards to Pro Bowl tight end Jason Witten. The touchdown tied the game and an extra point kick by David Buehler provided the winning point and a strong finish by Dallas in the second half of the season (5-3).

The Eagles will play the Packers in the wild card round of the playoffs next week in Philadelphia.

Meanwhile, the cat got out of the bag Sunday morning with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reporting first that Dallas was going to remove the "interim" tag from coach Jason Garrett's title.
