As they headed into their season finale in 2006, the New York Giants were in trouble. They had turned a 6-2 first half into a 7-8 record and needed to win at Washington to have a shot at the playoffs and perhaps at saving Head Coach Tom Coughlin's job. New York went on to win the game 34-28 as Tiki Barber ran for a franchise record 234 yards. The Giants made the playoffs, winning tiebreakers over Green Bay, Carolina and St. Louis. Thirteen months later, Coughlin was holding the Lombardi Trophy as the coach of the Super Bowl champions.Fast forward to 2011. The Giants head into their season finale having turned a 6-2 first half into a 9-6 record that currently has them outside looking in at the NFC's last playoff spot after last week's 45-17 loss to the Packers. This game followed a late game meltdown in a stunning home loss to Philadelphia. Rumors are also flying about Coughlin's job security.
