Jason Garrett was finally named Cowboys coach, in a move that's been widely reported since the regular season ended.

The team made the announcement at a Thursday press conference.

"He's truly one of our own," Jerry Jones said at Garrett's introductory press conference. "We know him well for the qualifications he has for this position. I know that he has spent his entire life preparing for this day. And he is well-qualified."

The owner also said that he had hoped things would work out so Garrett would one day be Cowboys coach and divulged that other teams had called him asking for permission to interview Garrett.

It's a four-year deal, and Garrett will have at least some personnel control.
