The aftermath of Week 17 didn't see quite the head coaching wipe out that was speculated. This after Brad Childress, Mike Singletary and Wade Phillips all got their walking papers well before season's close. We asked FanHouse NFL writers Andy Kent, Ray Glier, John Hickey, Barry Barnes and John Oehser for their take on the leaders with something to prove in 2011.
Which head coaching survivor sits on the hottest seat, and who has the steepest uphill battle ahead of him?
Oehser: Gary Kubiak. The reality is that there are more than a few coaches on the hot seat -- and the other reality is more than a few of these coaches kept their jobs primarily because of the uncertainty around the labor situation. But there's little question that the Houston Texans must win -- and make the playoffs -- next season for him to keep his job.
The Texans hired Wade Phillips as defensive coordinator, and the expectation is that the veteran hire will produce big results and the first postseason appearance in franchise history. If that doesn't happen, Kubiak almost certainly won't be back in 2012.
