Al Davis doesn't speak in public much anymore, but when he does it's usually entertaining, and enlightening.

Tom Cable was fired by the Raiders despite delivering an 8-8 season, a three-game improvement from 2009, in a decision that was met with some criticism from the players. In introducing his replacement, Hue Jackson, Davis touched on the dismissal of Cable.

"When we had the ... Randy Hansen incident, we had a turmoil in our coaching staff. Randy's jaw was broken. To this day nobody is sure how it was broken. We had a spouse accuse the head coach of personal relations that were not good. And at that time there were a lot of people who wanted me to take action (against the coach)," Davis said.

Cable also said the team faced a lawsuit from allegations that Cable mistreated a woman and that Cable would fly in "friends so they could be with them the night before the game."

Davis referred to "the wrath (Cable) brought on the Raider organization" and said, "I just wasn't going to take it anymore."

He also confirmed that Cable was fined a total of $120,000 total by the team during the season, withholding $20,000 per paycheck for the last six weeks of the season. Cable has filed a grievance against the team seeking reimbursement of that money.
