It was pretty much assumed that the winner of last week's Seahawks vs. Rams game (which decided the winner of the NFC West) was playing for the right to lose to the New Orleans Saints in the opening round of the NFC Playoffs. Not so fast. On Saturday, the Seahawks, owners of a 7-9 regular-season record, pulled off a stunning upset at Qwest Field by knocking off the defending champs, 41-36, in a non-stop clinic of both offensive brilliance and defensive incompetence. Marshawn Lynch, acquired in a mid-season trade with the Buffalo Bills, provided the knockout blow with this incredible 67-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter as he ran through, around and over any and all Saints defenders that attempted to get in his way.
Even quarterback Matt Hasselbeck was down field throwing blocks.
