Who would have thought that with just three games left in the season, these two intrastate rivals would be facing each other as division leaders with their postseasons on the line? But this is the biggest game the Rams, tied with Seattle for the NFC West lead, have played in half a dozen years, and it has just as much meaning for the Chiefs, who find themselves with an 8-5 record and needing a win to stay ahead of surging second place AFC West defending champ San Diego (8-6), the Chargers having played Thursday.
Not bad for two teams who finished in the cellar a year ago.
This is the last road game for the Chiefs, who are just 2-5 on the road but who with a win Sunday will head into the last two games of the season at home, where they are 6-0.
The Rams are 4-2 at home but have been on the road for three weeks, during which time they won twice. Since losing their home opener, St. Louis has lost just once at the Edward Jones Dome and that was to Atlanta, clearly one of the best teams in the NFL this season.
The Rams lean heavily on rookie QB Sam Bradford, but for the first time he's gone back-to-back games without throwing a TD pass.
