Chris Gamble, the Carolina Panthers veteran safety and one of their highest paid players, skipped a practice last week, which resulted in his being removed from the starting lineup at Cleveland last Sunday, according to a story in The Charlotte Observer.Defensive end Everette Brown told Joe Person of the Observer that Gamble missed a practice and that is why he was disciplined. John Fox, the Carolina coach, had offered few details of why Gamble was made to play more as a reserve in the 24-23 loss to the Browns.
Fox had continued to say this week that Gamble did not start because of performance-based issues.
