The NFL awards collected this week by the Atlanta Falcons are all good, but more and more with the way the Falcons are playing, those awards look like window dressing for an opportunity at something that is much bigger.Quarterback Matt Ryan was named NFC Offensive Player of the Month after helping Atlanta rally for two late wins. The Falcons posted a 4-0 record for the month.
Kicker Matt Bryant was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season for his 47-yard field goal with nine seconds left that beat the Packers on Sunday, 20-17.
Bryant kicked his third game-winning field goal of the season and the 12th of his career against the Packers, a game which catapulted the Falcons into the lead role as a NFC favorite for the Super Bowl. The Falcons are 9-2 and play at Tampa Bay (7-4) on Sunday.
Bryant has made 24 of 27 field goals this season (88.9 percent).
Bryant was lining up for the game-winner when the Packers called timeout to try and unnerve him.
