The Philadelphia Eagles got on a plane in Chicago last Sunday night having fallen to the Bears to slip into a tie for the NFC East lead knowing that they would have to take on the desperate but talented Houston Texans just four nights later. It was bit of wake-up call after three straight division victories. So was what happened in the fourth quarter Thursday night when Philadelphia saw its 14-point second quarter lead turn into a four-point deficit because of a pair of long touchdown drives by the visitors.
And as has been the case this year and in most Decembers during coach Andy Reid's 12 seasons, the Eagles didn't fold, rallying with two scores of their own, a 1-yard run by quarterback Michael Vick and his 5-yard toss to fullback Owen Schmitt, for a 34-24 victory that ended a stretch of four games in 18 days with Philadelphia back on top of the NFC East at 8-4.
"I think the world of these guys," said MVP candidate Vick, who passed for 302 yards and ran for 48 more. "I'll go to battle with them any day. We're just glad we got through the stretch that we just went through. Now we take a break and focus on the last four games."

Reid, who upped his December record to 33-13, trailing only Hall of Famers Vince Lombardi, John Madden and Bill Walsh, had much the same message.
