SAN DIEGO -- The Chargers are celebrating VJ Day.
Sunday in Indianapolis, Pro Bowl receiver Vincent Jackson will make his season debut against the Colts.
"I can't wait," said coach Norv Turner on Tuesday. "He's going to be ready to go play at a high level."
A salary squabble led to Jackson's hiatus. The Chargers (5-5) lead the NFL in total offense, but both the club and Jackson paid a price for not reaching terms earlier.
Now the Bolts regain a 6-foot-5 speedster who was the only NFL receiver to average at least 17 yards per catch in both 2008 and 2009.
"Our guys kind of step back and say, 'Wow, I forgot how good he is,' " Turner said.
Jackson signed with the Chargers on Oct. 29 and has been practicing with the club for a month, although not usually with the first team.
"He looks to me as if he played in the first 10 games of the season," quarterback Philip Rivers said. "He's obviously kept himself in great shape."
