Broncos rookie cornerback Perrish Cox, who is facing charges in a sexual assault case, was fined by the team and will be active for Sunday's game at Arizona but won't start, the club announced in a statement.

Cox was arrested Thursday evening following a monthlong investigation by police in suburban Lone Tree into an Oct. 28 incident. He made an initial court appearance in Douglas County Court on Friday, posting $50,000 bond, receiving permission to leave the state of Colorado on two occasions, apparently for Broncos road games, and ordered to return for another hearing on Jan. 7.

The case was filed under seal at the request of the district attorney's office to protect the identity of the victim. No details of the alleged assault have been released by authorities or become part of the public record to this point.

The Broncos said they imposed the maximum fine possible on Cox for missing team meetings and practice Friday while he was dealing with his legal issues.
