Losers of four in a row, the Denver Broncos are coming off their bye week seeking to turn around their sinking season. They're facing the division-leading Kansas City Chiefs, who are looking to right their own ship, coming off a bruising overtime loss against the Raiders a week ago to drop to 2-3 since an 3-0 start. But the Broncos struggles are more pronounced, having gone 4-14 since last season's 6-0 start. Denver has yet to win a divisional game at home under second-year Head Coach Josh McDaniels, dropping to 0-4 after a 59-14 shellacking by the Raiders two weeks ago at Invesco Field at Mile High. The Broncos have shuffled their offensive line in hopes of improving the league's least effective running game. They also are trying to bolster the pass protection for quarterback Kyle Orton, who has increasingly taken a beating in recent weeks as opposing teams prey on Denver's one-dimensional offense.
However, the bye week did give the Broncos a chance to get many of their injured players back, including special teams standouts linebacker Wesley Woodyard and safety Darcel McBath. Orton also had a chance to recover from bruised ribs and running back Knowshon Moreno, who has struggled with hamstring issues this season, is said to be the healthiest he has been all year.
