Roy Williams Eager to Put Best Foot Forward Going Down Memory Lane

Sunday's game between the 2-7 Cowboys and 2-7 Lions isn't exactly a marquee matchup. after all, 18 other NFL teams have more victories than Dallas and Detroit have between them. Nor is there any great history involved. Even their two playoff meetings were snoozers (5-0 Cowboys in 1970 and 38-6 Lions in 1991). Even Cowboys quarterback Jon Kitna, who passed Detroit to a 39-31 upset of Dallas in 1991, isn't that excited about facing his former team.

"It's a different regime," Kitna said of the Lions, who are now led by general manager Martin Mayhew and coach Jim Schwartz. "There's very few guys left from when I was there. I enjoyed my time there. It was two and a quarter years that I really enjoyed ... but I don't really feel like it's anything different this week."

Perhaps that's because Kitna's Detroit tenure was relatively brief compared to his five years apiece in Seattle and Cincinnati. But this game is special for Cowboys receiver Roy Williams, who was chosen seventh overall by the Lions in the 2004 draft and remained with the team until being traded to Dallas in October 2008.

"This is most definitely a game I (would) hate to lose," WIlliams said. "I watch the team and I'm like, 'How would we be if I was still there? How we would be if Kitna was there and (offensive coordinator Mike) Martz was there and we just kept everything intact for a couple of years? I always think of that."
