Tyler Thigpen Takes Blame After Bears Batter Dolphins

Tyler ThigpenMIAMI -- Ever since he got his first taste as an NFL starting quarterback two years ago in Kansas City, Tyler Thigpen couldn't wait for another chance to experience that feeling. Given the results of Thursday night when the Miami Dolphins hosted the Chicago Bears at Sun Life Stadium, Thigpen probably didn't enjoy the taste as much.

Thrust into the starting role for the Dolphins after both Chad Pennington and Chad Henne went down with injuries last week against the Tennessee Titans, Thigpen found himself running for his life under the lights from a fast and hard-hitting Bears' defense. Lining-up behind a severely banged-up offensive line certainly didn't help matters as regular starting center Joe Berger was out with a knee injury and Pro Bowl left tackle Jake Long was basically playing with one good arm.

Additionally, backup center Cory Procter, who was making his first as a Dolphin, was carted-off the field in the first quarter after he wrenched his knee without anyone touching him. He was downfield blocking on a short wide receiver screen for Davone Bess, looking for a linebacker to hit when his foot got caught in the turf. Left guard Richie Incognito had to move over to a position he hadn't played since his second year in St. Louis and Pat McQuistan took over at left guard.
