Week 8 Monday Night Game Gives Texans Chance at Rare Sweep of Colts

The Houston Texans have a chance on Monday to do something rarely done in the AFC South.

If they do it, they will take a major step toward the postseason.

The Texans, with a victory in Indianapolis on Monday Night Football Nov. 1, can become just the second team in the nine-year history of the South to sweep the Colts. The last time it happened?

That was in 2002.

And the team that did it, the Tennessee Titans, won the division.

Such has been the extent of the Colts' dominance in the division since 2002, a span in which Indianapolis has won six of seven AFC South titles.

But although a lot of factors -- a slew of injuries to the Colts and a 34-24 Texans victory in the regular-season opener primary among them -- point to the Texans having a very real chance to complete the sweep, Texans coach Gary Kubiak said this week there's a pretty obvious reason it will be tricky.

"That one weapon that's going to take all them snaps is pretty good," Kubiak said, referring to Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.
