INDIANAPOLIS -- Austin Collie's status is improving.
Collie, the Indianapolis Colts' second-year wide receiver who sustained a concussion on one of the NFL's most frightening plays Sunday, returned to Indianapolis with the team Sunday night and his symptoms are improving, Colts coach Jim Caldwell said Monday.
Caldwell said Collie returning with the team was a positive sign.
"Obviously, the doctors felt good enough about his situation to allow him to travel back with us on the airplane," Caldwell said Monday, one day after the Colts 26-24 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field Sunday.
Collie spent the night at home, Caldwell said.
"Our medical staff had an opportunity to talk with him this morning," Caldwell said. "He's doing fine and his symptoms are subsiding. He's trending in the right direction, which is great."
Collie sustained the injury on a helmet-to-helmet hit delivered by Eagles safety Kurt Coleman, after which Collie lay motionless for several minutes with 2:33 remaining in the second quarter.
